POW - Color On in Amstelveen
On October 22nd, fans excitedly lined up to enter the venue, the gloomy fall weather didn't phase them one bit. Inside the venue the energy was palpable from the moment we stepped in. This was promising an amazing night, and nothing less was true.
The lights dim and the wave of cheers come from the fans filling the room with excitement. POW enters the stage and gets ready to open their show with the songs; Valentine and Bae. These songs have the feeling of young love and the happiness that brings people, it fits perfectly with their blue and white outfits. A quick greeting and appreciation for fans coming to this stop of the tour and they move on with the songs; Reason, Being Tender,
WHY, Come True, Dazzling and Celebrate. Besides their amazing dancing, soothing vocals and effortless rapping their happiness and chemistry is visible from everywhere in the room.
The members introduce themselves in some more depth and show how happy they are to be here with their fans called POWER. This is their first time in Europe and they were so excited to meet their fans here and make amazing new memories with them.
For the next songs their high energy makes place for a little slower pace with microphone stands for the songs Still choosing you, Just Go and Slow dancing. The songs being slower and more emotional doesn't withhold them from dancing to it, Still choosing you and Slow dancing have a special choreography with the microphone stands.
After a quick break Hyunbin and Jungbin come out as a duo to perform an emotional cover of Justin Bieber's That Should Be Me which the fans sing along word for word. The other members join back on the stage to sincerely tell fans how excited and thankful they are.
Before we turn the energy right up again the members hype up the crowd for Wall Flowers and Amazing, the fast pace and intense choreography captivates the audience and the reaction of the fans is truly amazing. Suddenly is time for a throw back with their song Boyfriend, their song with the remake of the chorus from Avril Lavigne's song Girlfriend. For the song Flavor they have a prop for the dance to make it look like you're looking at a feed on your phone, a very refreshing idea and skillfully executed.
For the last few songs they mix energy with feelings for Love Again and Sunset, and closing it out with Happy Depression and Always There. Hopeful and encouraging is how I would describe the ending note of the setlist. But of course we know the end is never really the end and after the crowd chanted for an encore loudly the members came back on stage for another round of Happy depression and Boyfriend. even asking the fans which song they want to hear again. The venue turns into one big part with dancing, jumping and singing along. a truly amazing ending to an amazing night with POW in Amstelveen.
