Play with earth [Concert Recap] Wave to earth

May 11th is a sunny Sunday in Utrecht Wave to earth sold out Tivoli in Utrecht, the atmosphere was amazing even before we went inside the venue. The room filled up quickly after doors opened, at 8:00 PM the lights dimmed and the crowd screamed, the band members entered the stage and opened with Are you bored? followed by Play with Earth and Peach eyes.

They missed us a lot and are happy we are here again, “How was your day, was is good was it bad?” and the crowd screamed mixed reactions “ Was it bad?” Daniel replied laughing, the fans knew what was coming, the next song: Bad. The crowd sang along the whole song almost as loud as the speakers were!

The next songs on the setlist were all smoothly blended together with solo’s in between for the transitions Beck, Slow Dive, Holyland, Homesick and Love were all met with loud singing and cheering, the genre was perfect for the warm evening. Daniel started thanking the crowd in Dutch, but it didn’t end there! He continued “ Thank you, we’re so happy to be here lets make this night unforgettable its not over yet !” All in Dutch !

Ride was next on the setlist, followed by Pueblo which triggered the crowd to hold up their fan project; paper stars in front of their phone lights, truly beautiful and very cute. Dong Gyu ended this song with an impressive drum solo!

“Can you sing this melody with us” Daniel asked, first a little quiet melody came from the crowd. “ I cant hear you”  was all the crowd needed to scream a lot louder than before and with the soft saxophone and drums in the background it almost felt like a lite night campfire atmosphere in the venue. Together with the crowd the band played the song Light.

Introducing the members with their own solos, Daniel started with a guitar solo followed by Soon Jong on the bass, Dong Gyu on the drums and Min on the saxophone. Daniel quickly apologised for the kids in the crowd that the next song contained some curse words, and the crowd knew exactly which song came next: Annie.

After the long drawn out ending which is typical with bands they thanked us again and left the stage, immediately the crowd started chanting “Encore!” and it didn’t take long for them to come back, Daniel even played a short melody from ‘the seven nation army’ and it hyped up the crowd even more. Soon Jong thanked us again for coming out and hoped this night gave us something to carry home with us and cherish for a long time to come.

The encore consisted of the songs Wave and Seasons, and because we are so beautiful, according to Daniel, they added the song Pink as an extra. After taking the group Photo they gave some of their picks and drumsticks to fans. And with that this evening ended to soon.
