Jey in Amsterdam for "Do You Remember Me"
Jey and DJ Roots Kick Off the “Do You Remember Me” European Tour
On August 24, Jey officially kicked off the European leg of his Do You Remember Me tour, with DJ Roots joining him as support. We had the honour of being there for the opening night, where we not only got to experience the show but also had the chance to sit down and talk with both artists!
When speaking with Jey and DJ Roots about the tour, both artists shared how excited they were to finally begin their European journey. DJ Roots especially couldn’t hide his love for Europe. He told us that, when he was here 13 years ago, he made it his goal to always start his tours in Amsterdam because of how much he loves the city and its people.
Jey agreed with the love for European audiences, explaining that the energy between him and his fans is something truly special. When he dances, the crowd dances. When he gives energy, the fans give it right back. And honestly, we could see exactly what he meant! The Dutch crowd was dancing, singing along, and matching Jey’s energy throughout the night.

Of course, we also had to ask the important question: what is their favourite song to perform?
Both Jey and DJ Roots immediately answered with Breath. For Jey, the song, written for his wife, has a strong emotional impact when performing it in front of a crowd, and seeing that emotion on stage also affects Roots. But when it comes to crowd energy, they secretly have a love-hate relationship with Baby. The reaction from the audience is always incredible — and we got to witness that firsthand! The song was performed during the show and even returned as an encore, sending the crowd into a frenzy all over again.
We also spoke to Jey about his songwriting and creative process. He shared that it can sometimes be difficult to express his feelings out loud, especially because he has gone through some dark times that are not always easy to talk about. However, being in the studio gives him a different way to express those emotions and turn them into music.
Jey also opened up about his transition from the K-pop scene to becoming an independent artist. While the change was difficult, he felt that it was necessary. Leaving behind the resources and support of a K-pop company can be challenging, but becoming independent gave him more freedom to grow into the artist he truly wants to be.
And that freedom definitely showed during the performance! Jey delivered an energetic and engaging show and was not afraid to interact with his fans. From crouching down to sing directly to them to taking fans’ phones and filming with them, he made sure the audience felt involved every step of the way.

When we asked Jey about his future goals, he shared that he hopes to retire sometime in his forties and focus more on producing. Before that, however, he has one big dream: a stadium tour!
DJ Roots, on the other hand, had a slightly different answer. He said he is ready to put down his “roots” and start a family, joking that he is ready to have a baby. Professionally, though, his wish is simple: to keep making music and to be happy doing what he loves.
Overall, Jey and DJ Roots proved that they are not only talented artists but also amazing performers who clearly have so much more to show the world. This European tour is only the beginning, and we definitely hope to see them return to Europe again and again.
So keep streaming, keep supporting, and let’s give Jey and DJ Roots the stadium tour they deserve! And to close things off, A message in the words of DJ Roots himself:
“I LOVE EUROPE!”
