[Concert Recap] Katseye in Amsterdam

It’s only been three years since Katseye was formed out of The Debut: Dream Academy. Now they are on their THE WILDWORLD TOUR with four members, as unfortunately Sophia went on hiatus last month and Manon has been on hiatus since the start of the year. That didn’t stop Daniela, Lara, Megan and Yoonchae from taking the stage at Ziggo Dome Amsterdam to put on an amazing show.
Thousands of fans gathered and screamed in anticipation for the girls to take the stage. In sparkling pink, purple, blue and white outfits, the girls kicked off the concert with their latest hit song, “Hootie Frutti” As the pink hue of the lightsticks radiated around the venue, many young fans danced along to their music. The seating area wasn’t going to stop these fans from dancing their hearts out.
From “Internet Girl”, where fans screamed “eat zucchini, eat zucchini” as if their lives depended on it. To “Touch”, the girls made sure to put all their energy into their performance, leaving no note unchecked.
When it was time for “Gabriela”, a fan was chosen to perform the dance just outside the barrier as the crowd cheered her on, whilst she knew the whole dance from start to finish. The song continued as Daniela took charge of the stage and did a solo act, with the dancers backing her up, putting on a spectacular performance as the choreography included an outfit change. All four members returned wearing purple and blue flared ruffled flamenco skirts, whilst performing “Gabriela”. With a rose in their mouths as they finished the song.
The sound barrier most likely broke when the first few beats of “Pinky Up” started, including a DJ solo set from Megan. Shouting along to the lyrics, the fans clearly enjoyed themselves.
Katseye took their time introducing themselves and welcoming their fans to their concert for the evening. They carefully laid down the rules for what was about to happen next. All four members walked past the first barricade to say hello. They held hands with some of their fans, they sang “Time Lapse”, a song filled with warmth and love. It was amazing to see how respectful the fans stayed. Many fans had prepared gifts; at one point, Lara was wearing a new set of sunglasses, whilst Megan had a pair of kitty ears on her head. Accepting freebies like bracelets and fan letters. A big fluffy bunny made it into the arms of one of the members as the fan received a hug.
Lara performed her solo song behind the piano as Yoonchae followed suit with a dance routine.
Having changed into more casual outfits for their encore, Katseye made it clear they were not done for the night. Though Katseye started as a group with originally six members, the four girls put on an amazing performance.
With confetti blasting into the crowd and cheers all around, finishing off with one of their most loved bangers, “Gnarly”, after all, nothing beats hearing little fans screaming, “I’m the shit”.
