[Concert Recap] The Boyz in Paris

Updated: Sep 30

It had been two years since THE BOYZ last brought their tour to Paris, and it was finally time to reunite at Le Dôme de Paris. Friday the 13th lived up to its reputation as the crowd waiting outside the venue for THE BOYZ's ZENERATION II show had to wait longer than expected due to a technical issue. Fortunately, everything was resolved, and the show went on. The extra wait became insignificant once everyone got inside and the lights dimmed, signaling the start of an incredible night.

The group promised to make everyone hotter after the wait outside, and they certainly kept that promise. Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, New, Q, Ju Haknyeon, Sunwoo, and Eric took the stage by storm. The energy was electric from the start, and their strong, beautiful live vocals were present from beginning to end. Not to mention how absolutely amazing everyone looked!

The intro melted into "Diamond Life," and the high-energy start on the main stage continued with "Out of Control" and "Maverick." After a brief interlude and an outfit change from all-white to darker fits, it was time to slow the beat down a bit with "Tattoo," only to switch it up to a more upbeat tempo with "Levitating" right after, maintaining the momentum before another short break featuring beautiful visuals of each member on the big screen.

When the stage lights came back on, chairs and inflatable donuts adorned the stage, giving a cute summery vibe to the next segment starting with "Complete Me" and ending with "D.D.D." It was clear how much fun everyone was having, dancing around and maintaining contact with the crowd. It's doubtful there was even one Deobi not smiling and enjoying themselves.

During the ments, each member took the time to introduce themselves and chat for a bit, even in French. Many warmly reminisced about their last visit to Paris. They also mentioned how Deobis haven't changed a bit since the last time and expressed their wish to return to play in bigger arenas and even stadiums.

To wind down from the big party on stage, it was time for a breather. The crew prepared 11 chairs, and the boys appeared wearing lighter-colored outfits, taking their seats with microphones in hand. "Walkin' in Time" slowed the pace, and it was time to get a bit emotional for the next few songs. From the main stage to the extended stage, everyone got to showcase their beautiful vocals while interacting with the crowd, sharing waves, smiles, and moments. "Back 2 U" was particularly special, as everyone turned on their phone flashes, illuminating the dome like beautiful stars.

After a short break and another outfit change, it was time to kick up the energy levels again. The group launched into a back-to-back spree of hard-hitting choreography with "REVEAL," "The Stealer," "Bite Back," and the main event finale, "Watch It." "Bite Back," currently an unreleased song, was clearly something the crowd had been eagerly awaiting. It should be a crime that the song hasn't been released on streaming platforms yet.

The atmosphere rose to even greater heights when it was time to "Watch It." It seemed as if the crowd and the boys found another gear, and everyone was singing and dancing like crazy.

The encore started with "Nectar," with everyone making rounds around the stage and having fun with the audience, also grabbing presents like hats, plushies, and glasses. Right before the last song, "Fire Eyes," the group celebrated Hyunjae's birthday together with a cake and little accessories (soap bubbles!), of course singing "Happy Birthday" to the birthday boy. Many fans had also made sweet signs to wish him a happy birthday.

Kevin asked Deobis to do him a favor by performing chants and stomps to celebrate the occasion, filming a snippet with his phone. A few of the boys took short video memories with their phones during the show to share on their social media accounts later.

THE BOYZ promised to return to Paris soon and mentioned an upcoming comeback. Could a new tour be on the horizon as well? Hopefully, fans will get to dance dance dance with them again soon.

Thank you so much to Magic Sound and IST Entertainment for having us, it was an absolute blast!
